The Daemon's Lair
I use OpenBSD and am a former Linux user (Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, Slackware, Ubuntu). This is the place where I occasionally rant and post observations. I am still a BSD neophyte, but slowly learning. Linux is now in my past, but I occasionally try help on LQ when I can (and feel like it).
A few details about my system:
OpenBSD on a laptop.
i3 window manager. I moved from a full-featured Gnome 2 to a slimmer Xfce, then stopped using desktop environments several years ago and moved to even slimmer window managers. I used Openbox, until discovering tiling WMs. I find them more user-friendly than GUIs with a desktop and windows paradigm. I settled on i3 and have joyously used it since.
I prefer terminal-based applications and use them whenever I can. mpv and Xine for videos, Midnight Commander (although PCmanFM is used for big and intricate file management), xmix for audio volume, etc.
I always use the simplest applications I can find, such as xpdf, gpicview, Aqualung for playing music, Leafpad, xmix, etc.
